I bought this 180 gram audiophile pressing of dark side of the moon expecting it to sound pretty great.

I auditioned it in my home theater on sony s xa 777es sacd player via an arcam fmj preamp processor and fmj multichannel amplifier driving a pair of audio physic virgos an ap avanti center channel a pair of ap brilon. I have a few copies of the off the shelf original edition the box set edition gold edition and now this latest one that seems to be a remastering done in 2016. Whilst the dark side of the moon is my favourite floyd album i would also like to clearly state that floyd s wish you wer here animals and lastly the wall are also exquisitely sublime to. However for a so called audiophile pressing i am extremely disappointed with the surface noise clicks and skipping.

33 rpm reviewed in the united kingdom on 20 april 2017 seemless recording quality good pressing. First dark side of the moon itself we all know how brilliant the album is so there s no need for me to review it. Dunno how much better it is than the 30th anniversary edition but listening to it on my ipod classic be rest assured that the album sounds fantastic as it should. The result is a brand new dark side of the moon that one could argue truly fulfills the original intent of the band. Well worth collecting them to. The full record was remastered from the original analogue tapes by james guthrie joel plante and bernie grundman. Carefully remastered from the original master tapes the sound is smooth warm and not clinical in any way shape or form.

But for my money anyway pink floyd have never bettered this album. The sound quality as expected is superb. The most recent vinyl re issue of the dark side of the moon is the 2016 remastered edition on heavyweight 180gr vinyl. I am pretty sure that i own most editions of dark side of the moon that have come out on cd.

The lp is housed in a gatefold sleeve printed on a black matte cardboard which also includes two stickers and two original posters with art by hipgnosis.
