Loop piles rarely show footprints and vacuum lines. Loop pile refers to a carpet in which the loop fibers are not cut see diagram above. But it s alright because when it comes down to it there are two types you really need to be familiar with. A patterned loop carpet is formed when the loop fibers are at various heights.

This is because the longer cut fibers bend over the shorter looped fibers. All carpet pile starts out looped. This can cause the carpet to look as though it has worn down.
